POSTAL 1: Now on Steam!

We never thought we'd see the day: Not only can you get POSTAL 2 on Steam, now POSTAL 1 is also available there too! It's all thanks to you, the fans, for showing Valve how much you wanted to see our games on their popular store and community hub during POSTAL 2's greenlight effort.  To celebrate the launch, (http://runningwithscissors.com) have discounted the game 10% for the next week.  Go get some!

Valve was pleased to see P1 on Steam? Umm, that sounds a bit odd.

Anyway, congrats on getting it on Steam.

When I get mad I just want to go POSTAL.

Yeah, I guess that sounds logical.

Anyway, I really hope that this helps RWS even more to make the next Postal game in the house.

Yeah, thankfully Valve didn't ask us to do another Greenlight (as P1 would have been a much longer fight), they actually seemed pleased we suggested it, which blows my mind even now.  I'm sure our support for Linux and having Ryan Gordon backing us every step of the way counts for something there, considering their own Steam box plans.

Happy days for sure :)

Considering all the trash games that have been flooding steam riding the "indie" wave over the past year or so I'm sure Valve is happy to have a game that's actually good and not a game looking like it came right from newgrounds to cash in on the success actual indie games like braid and super meat boy and so on started (I know there are others but that's just off the top of my head). The word indie is being thrown around way to much these days. I wish there was a filter in steam so I could search for games without anything indie in the description. Not to say some are not decent but the bad far out weigh the good games in my opinion.

Anyways, glad to see Postal 1 finally on steam. Just waiting to see if I get another key like I did with Postal 2 from Desura. If not I'll happily buy it again.

@sticklerthe1st: It's to be expected. Many people got inspired to make games, and they do make even do they suck at doing so. Not trashing anyones work, but I mostly dislike clones and games that are in just for the dev to make money off it. Those games don't belong on Steam, Desura, Kickstarter, Indiegogo or any other website.

There are no doubt some shitty games..some feel like they stepped right out the Early Atari generation.. it's pitiful.. I guess it's cool to be retro these days, but DAMN!

As far as cloned,I don't dislike clones if they're done with a little taste.. basically if the developer shows some sort of creativity.. I can appreciate it,for what it is.. There was one game that cloned nearly every hit Nintendo game you could think of (all in one),but it added some comedy to it..good shit.. wish I could recall it's name.

Were you thinking of Retro City Rampage? Haven't played it, but it sounds like it may fit the bill

Yeah, it's probably Retro City Rampage.

It looks like a fun game, but I wouldn't get most of the references so it wouldn't be fun for me.

Agreed. Makes everyone look bad. I thought there would be some sort of quality control in place, steam is starting to remind me of XBLA and I was a huge valve/steam fanboy.

Meh, I still like Steam. It's definitely my platform of choice to get games. I really love the overlay, so I can quickly fire up the browser and look for walkthrough if I'm stuck.

Steam is great, but the one thing it falls short on is supporting older games.  A good chunk of the games in the id pack just don't work without a lot of tweaking, which is a major bummer.  GoG has them completely beat there.

Yeah I actually thought about that after making my post.  I guess it really comes down to personal experience as much as anything.  I've had zero problems running games from GoG versus steam.  Not to say I won't run into a problem one of these days, its bound to happen
