My Postal 3 mods.

I'm working on a few mods right now and the first one is a No intro patch. I'm also doing a first person that I will hopefully get working soon (as in today) and hold everyone over until we can do it properly. Jump and crouch is also another.

Obviously I still have a bit of tweaking to do but here's an initial screenshot of first person. This was like 5 minutes of work.

If anyone was wondering, there is a camera.cfg in postal iii\p3\cfg you can edit and check out. It will show you the important things to change.

add -console to the Postal 3 launch options and open it up and type find cam, that will list all of the cam options. You can change them in real time in game. It's just a cheap work around for now and still needs a lot of small tweaks but it can be done. Changing it in game helps so you won't have to constantly restart the game. I haven't finished a config I'm satisfied with so maybe someone else who is quicker could check it out too. the SDK wiki/valve developer network will tell you what the values mean for the cam options. If I happen to finish it before someone else does
(or already did?) I'll post my config.

I'm trying as best I can but I'm having problems from when you sprint. Camera doesn't want to work how I want it to. Another slight problem is if you come to a corner you might see the P dude in third person for a split second.

I'm trying to completely remove the cover feature as well.

Nah. It's the source engine (orange box engine, same as hl2 ep 2 and such) and I like it a lot even though it's a bit dated and I'm in the minority around here since most everyone seems to like unreal a whole lot better. It's reasonably easy to mod with and even without the official SDK for Postal 3 you can still map and accomplish a lot via console commands/scripts. I just happened to learn something recently about Akella (more than I knew already) and I decided I'm not going to support the game with free content until they get their shit sorted out. Besides the no intro patch I posted that's up the FPS mod literally anyone could do with an hour or so of time configing. It's by no means perfect though. Just a work around.

Also looks like Akella is the reason we probably won't get a real sdk so I see no reason to mod for a company that doesn't want me to.

Although remember RWS has nothing to do with this, it's just my petty internet grudge against Akella for the DRM and no official sdk

 ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong on the official SDK though. If that were to come out I'd love to work with P3.

Totally understandable dude, and here's hoping that Akella does get their shit sorted and some form of SDK is released.  Thanks for the efforts though  8)

Long story short it's not RWS's fault. They can't support a game they have no SDK to themselves.  Akella has no plans on supporting the game. Especially now that they're broke.
