Virtual Memory
« on: June 19, 2010, 06:56:45 PM »
ok i raised my virtual memory for postal ED to keep the bug reports from poping up, just wondering if i set them right? i put Initial Memory (MB) as 15000 and Maximum Memory (MB) as 20000, with 179388MB of space, so that leaves about atleast 159388MB of space.. will that work?
WHO'S PLAYING?

if your getting an error saying ran out of virtual memory, its due to missing music/sounds from there folders.

though that shouldn't happen with ED but was a common problem with AWP download.....hmmm

copy music and sound folders from STP and paste to ED's folder, should fix this problem

well after i uped the antie on the virtual memory i was able to play through the whole game just fine :) lol the newbie video was for XP i have vista lol, but thanks for the replies! :P

PS: i watched the video.. JESUS! that would crash my computer! hahahaha i can't have 118MB of virtual it needs to be ATLEAST 2500 LOL thats why i put it up to 15000 initial and 20000 max ;) and for vista go to control panel in start menu, click system and maintenance, then click system, on the side of that go to advanced system settings then click settings under (preformance), then click the advanced tab, and click (change) under virtual memory, unclick (automatic (box)) click to highlight C: drive then click (custom) and if you want to expand the virtual memory, set it higher than what you see> total paging file size for all drives (#) to expand go up about 5000 MB if you have the space...

(gotta have a smooth running splinter cell double agent game too) ;)

I know what he's talking 'bout.. Scott's old ED server had this error constantly, and we never really figured out what it was..

ill put money on it been the sounds/music

had this problem constantly with AWP ran out of virtual ram (yet my virtual ram was fine),was because it had no music or sounds folder (i forget which, but was one of them)

and the ini settings wasn't for some reson picking up on the STP ones, hence had to copy folder to AWP

PS: well i moved the files... but... General protection fault!

History: UObject::ProcessEvent <- (DeadLimbMarker Save10.DeadLimbMarker31, Function Postal2Game.BlipMarker.Timer) <- AActor::Tick <- TickAllActors <- ULevel::Tick <- (NetMode=0) <- TickLevel <- UGameEngine::Tick <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop

Man that was a bad fuck up of mine when making the Fudge pack installer :(  It was put right for the 2nd batch though at least.  I think I made a patch for this even.

meh was easy enough to fix though :)

it sits in its own folder like ED

i.e C:\program files\postal2STP\AWP
