I recently purchased the Postal 2: Complete Edition on Gog.com, and whenever I run it in directx mode all the items are missing their lighting, dynamic lighting and regular lighting on everything else works fine, but any other item such as doors, pickups, boxes, are all lightingless. I am running on windows 7 with an intel i7 processor and a Nvidia Geforce 460m.

Maybe disable compressed lighting?

I've tried both of those solutions, fidgeted around in the ini for ages, but nevertheless all the lighting is screwy.

Are they all pitch dark, or just have no lighting to them, as if no lighting is applied to them?  I had this problem when I ran Postal on Vista SP1, even on a DX9 card.

This doesn't seem to be a problem for most people running 7, though.  And, for some I would say they didn't have to mess with any settings in the INI at all... Maybe it's the current drivers you're using? Maybe check to see if there are any updates to DX?

They have no lighting applied to them. They aren't rendered, I'll check for updates, but I doubt it.

Actually, I think it's hardware acceleration related, now I just need to find a way to get windows 7 to stop being butthurt about it.

tried all compatability modes ect?

allso try turning uac down/off

or have you tried running it in openGL?

go to your p2 folder find postal2.ini and change

[Engine.Engine]
RenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice

Hmm... maybe I'll download the free STP and just merge it with my GOG edition, see if anything is missing or corrupted or whatnot.

Still nothing, I'll just run it on OpenGL for now.
